Taiwan Market Guide

How Taiwan Stock Ticker Suffixes Work

Distinguish TWSE and Taipei Exchange securities when quote providers use the common .TW and .TWO formats.

Two market routes

Taiwan securities can trade through the Taiwan Stock Exchange or Taipei Exchange. The market venue matters when searching a global quote service.

2330.TWA common vendor format for a TWSE-listed security.
xxxx.TWOA common vendor pattern for a Taipei Exchange security.

These suffixes are vendor routing conventions. Confirm the native security code and listing venue with the relevant exchange.

Why the suffix matters

Using the wrong venue suffix may return no quote, a different instrument, or an incomplete history. It can also interfere with comparisons and automated imports.

  1. Find the native numeric security code.
  2. Confirm whether it is listed on TWSE or Taipei Exchange.
  3. Apply the format expected by your data provider.
  4. Verify company name, currency, and latest price before analysis.

Research checks

  • Use New Taiwan dollar consistently across price and financial data.
  • Check whether the security is a common share, ETF, preferred share, or another instrument.
  • Confirm corporate actions when historical prices or share counts change sharply.
  • Do not assume every data vendor uses identical suffixes or adjusted-price rules.
